Outdoor Education & Land Use..
Stewardship of the land, water, wildlife habitats and agricultural use are additional features of our school program. We are fortunate to have an expansive 110-acre school campus that in addition to athletic fields, encompasses, a stream, wetlands, meadows and woodlands. This provides an outdoor classroom which can be used in all curriculums and benefit all students. Extensive curriculum coordination and lesson planning in all subject areas has already taken place. The vision for stewardship of this valuable community resource has been made possible through the support of many individuals and community groups over the past three years.
After School Program..
At the time of publication the district and MAUMS were applying for a federal great to restore and improve our former program. The community has been very supportive of this kind of program and we are hopeful to implement a new after school experience for the 2009 -2010 school year.
Parent Teacher Student Association..
The
MAUMS Parent Teacher Student Association is an active group of parents who successfully plan student activities and support the work of the staff at school. The PTSA serves as a sounding board and advisor to the administration. Parents support student involvement in co-curricular activities, volunteer in our classrooms and are helpful chaperones on field trips. Our PTSA sponsors Open Houses, Patriot Challenge Day, Academic Expo, our annual Scholastic Book Fair, Teacher Appreciation Week, Eighth Grade Celebration, and fundraises through monthly dances for our students.
