Sixth Grade Social Studies..

The social studies curriculum in grade six is actually the first half of a two year course that focuses on the five themes of geography; place, location, region, movement and human-environment interaction. Students use these themes as a lens to view a variety of cultures throughout the world. In grade six the cultural areas explored include India, China, and Japan. A number of visual aids, graphic organizers, and supplemental resources are used to enhance the study of these cultural areas. Additionally, students develop their map skills and learn to make effective use of an atlas in this grade level.
