MAUMS Student Handbook..
Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year. Mt. Anthony Union Middle School is a regional school serving seventh and eighth grade students from Pownal, Woodford, Shaftsbury, and North Bennington. This year we will continue to serve the sixth, seventh and eighth grade students from Bennington. It is our mission to provide a program of rigorous academics that prepares students for high school and meets the developmental needs of the young adolescent. We invite all parents to become active participants in providing a high quality education to all of our students.
The sixth grade students from Bennington are a welcome addition to our school. We are excited to enroll these students in our school as it extends our time serving middle level students and will allow us the opportunity to truly get to know them. The schedule and program we have designed offers them the same curriculum that exists throughout the SVSU and should enhance their music experience with the additions of a band and or chorus option twice each week.
This agenda book is provided to students to use for daily planning and as a communication tool between home and school. You will find several pages of useful information at the beginning and end of the book that provide key facts that will be helpful in Math, Science, English, Language Arts, Social Studies and Study Skills. However, the most important feature is the day to day space for recording homework and up coming projects and events. There is even room for parents and teachers to initial assignments so that everyone understands homework expectations for that day.
We urge all parents to review this agenda with their son or daughter and to check it each night. Organization for middle school students is often a challenge and anything we can do as adults to support them in this regard will pay huge dividends. Thank you for your support.
