Handbook Discipline Philosophy..
Our discipline policy is based on a three - tier system of progressive intervention that complies with Vermont Act 113 and Federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and SVSU Discipline Policy #5050.
In order to maintain a safe and educationally sound school environment, it is the goal of MAUMS to insure that all members of the school community will conduct themselves in a responsible manner, which respects the rights of others.
These rights include, but are not limited to, the following:
- a right to a safe, non-threatening environment
- a right to courtesy and respect at all times
- a right to protection of private property
- a right to a clean school and a responsibility to help maintain cleanliness
- a right to hear only acceptable language
- a right to feel safe in school
There are many rules necessary to assure the safe operation of a school. However, there are only three basic ideas that we ask students to keep in mind at all times: RESPECT YOURSELF, RESPECT OTHERS AND RESPECT PROPERTY.
